BROLIS TIMBER and MEDŽIO BITĖS Partnership Strengthens Thermowood Supply in Lithuania

Our business strategy has always been based on long-term partnerships and sustainability. We are pleased to announce that we have started this year by signing a cooperation agreement with MEDŽIO BITĖS, a supplier of quality timber products in Lithuania.  This partnership will allow us to offer our Lithuanian customers a wider and more accessible range of thermowood products.

BROLIS products are already available on the online e-commerce platform Medziobites.lt and at all MEDŽIO BITĖS timber terminals in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai.

Due to its sustainability and improved functional properties, thermowood is rapidly gaining popularity all over the world, including in Lithuania. In our BROLIS TIMBER factory, we produce thermally modified wood according to the highest global standards from certified, carefully selected raw material. The entire production process is automated and strictly controlled.

    Market-driven partnership

“The negotiations with MEDŽIO BITĖS were initiated by a long-standing customer. According to him, it would have been great to find BROLIS thermowood among the other products he needs for wooden constructions. We heard him,” smiles Ingrida Vizbaraitė, CEO of BROLIS TIMBER.

Having started as a sales company, we took the natural course of becoming a specialised producer as the business developed. We focus our investments and resources on production and product development, rather than channel expansion, promotion and communication.

“These latter areas are a clear strength of MEDŽIO BITĖS. We see them as a professional and innovative player in the Lithuanian timber market with a well-developed trading infrastructure. By joining forces, we complement each other and create convenience for customers – quality thermowood products will be more easily and widely available, along with related goods and services,” says Ingrida Vizbaraitė.

It is very important for us that this partnership between two strong Lithuanian companies, in addition to the direct benefits for consumers, will promote trust and cooperation between local businesses, create higher added value, make them proud of their country’s products and maintain tax benefits for Lithuania.

Martynas Janėnas, CEO of the timber trading company MEDŽIO BITĖS, which has been operating in the country for nine years, reiterates that their customers were also increasingly asking for thermowood, so they looked for solutions to expand the range of these products.

“Perhaps unexpectedly, after a thorough search for the right reliable partners, we found them in our neighbourhood, in Kaunas, the city where we once opened our first timber trading terminal,” says the head of MEDŽIO BITIĖS. – “BROLIS TIMBER is particularly known for its innovation, modern technology and the quality and reliability of its products. We also share the same approach in terms of customer focus, working culture, style, and principles. The partnership is therefore based not only on business calculations, but also on a convergence of values”.

It is popular to leave thermowood uncoated so that it weathers naturally when exposed to atmosphere.

    Thermowood on the rise

First produced industrially three decades ago, demand for thermowood is growing by tens of per cent each year. Thermally modified wood, which is produced without chemicals using only heat, steam and water, is particularly valued for its sustainability and compatibility with the concept of the green economy. It is also functional: thermowood has a long life, dimensional stability not typical of conventional wood, and better thermal insulation properties. Thermally modified spruce and pine become free of resin and formaldehyde. Modified wood can withstand changes in temperature and humidity and will not rot. Although surface coating is not required, the availability of colour shades provides an exceptional aesthetic variety through coating, and the in-house surface texturing and finishing line makes it possible to do this quickly and professionally.

For a long time, thermowood has dominated for outdoor use – on facades, deckings and landscaping elements – but recently, thanks to its natural and healthy properties, as well as, clean graphic lines, it has been rapidly making its way into modern wood-scented interiors.

More than 30 profiles of BROLIS thermowood for interior and exterior decoration, sauna, spa and terrace applications, as well as structural timber, are already on display and available for purchase at the MEDŽIO BITĖS terminals.
